State Negotiators July 2020 Meeting

  • Existing Business Members may attend lunch and the presentation portion of the meeting. Reports and updates on settlements are closed to just school negotiators.
  • Drop-in attendance to the meeting. Fee pays for lunch, facility, and administration costs.
  • Attendance for full State Negotiators members.

  3. Legal considerations in returning to school
    Christian Shafer, Shareholder, Ratwik, Roszak & Maloney
    Is your school grappling with a shrinking budget due to the COVID-19 pandemic?  Does your school have staff members who have provided information from medical providers that they cannot return to in-person work at the school?  Are staff refusing to return to work out of fear related to providing in-person services to students?  In this presentation, attorney Christian Shafer will discuss the state and federal laws, as well as labor issues and collective bargaining implications, pertaining to requests for leave, staff layoff and furlough decisions.  Discussion will also include the CARES Act, the ADA, EEOC guidance and continuing contract law.    Prior to the presentation, email your questions to  [email protected] or ask them live during the meeting.
