In the summer of 2016, the MASPA Board performed a thorough evaluation of the financial health of MASPA and State Negotiators. For the last several years the Board has felt that the organizations' financial reserves were high and, as a result, deficit spending has been allowed until the reserves were at an appropriate level. Over this same period of time, expenses related to food, event space, conference presenters, and organizational support have increased. The Board feels that the reserves are now at an appropriate level.
After many years without change, the Board has approved an increase to the fees for MASPA and State Negotiators memberships and events. See the below "Summary of Changes" for detail. Know that this change is made with careful consideration of the impact that it makes on school budgets. It is done to allow our professional community to continue growing and delivering the best possible value to members.
The Board is always open to hearing your feedback. Please contact us if you have any questions or concerns about this change.
