State Negotiators January Meeting

Registration

  • Existing Business Members may attend the presentation portion of the meeting. Reports and updates on settlements are closed to just school negotiators.
  • Drop-in attendance to the meeting. Fee pays for lunch, facility, and administration costs.
  • Attendance for full State Negotiators members.

Registration is closed

This in-person meeting begins with plated lunch from 11:30 to 12:30.  Virtual attendance to the Presentation portion of the meeting is available to those that do not attend in-person.

COVID protocol: This DoubleTree location participates in the Hilton CleanStay program.  Seating for lunch and meeting seating will allow physical distancing. 
We are not asking attendees to disclose vaccination status.  Masks are strongly encouraged.  Please stay home if you are sick and get tested if you have symptoms.
Recording of the Presentation will be made available after the meeting.

Meeting Agenda:

  1. Introduction, review of norms, and meeting agenda

  2. Labor Relations with a Remote and In-Person Workforce
    In this session, Krin Abraham will present experiences from her career as an educator and local representative, through her retirement as Superintendent of the Houston Public Schools (HPS) in June 2021.  HPS created the Minnesota Virtual Academy, the first virtual academy in Minnesota in 2001.  In her tenure, Krin negotiated contracts on both sides of the table for a teacher group having both on-site and remote teachers.  Matt Mons will share White Bear Lake's efforts in guided group conversation to follow.

  3. Reports and Updates on Settlements
    Moderated group discussion: members share a brief update as to where they are in the process of negotiating teachers’ and other contracts. Includes please share the main issues they have brought to the table as well as any other issues or proposals you feel would be of interest to the group.
