State Negotiators May Meeting

    Existing Business Members may attend the presentation portion of the meeting. Reports and updates on settlements are closed to just school negotiators.
  • Drop-in attendance to the meeting. Fee pays for lunch, facility, and administration costs.
  • Attendance for full State Negotiators members.

This in-person event begins with plated lunch from 11:30 to 12:30.  Participation in the meeting will be limited to school representatives only. Business members are welcome to join for lunch.
A virtual connection option for the meeting will be available beginning at 12:30 and all attendees will be verified before being admitted

COVID protocol: This DoubleTree location participates in the Hilton CleanStay program.  Seating for lunch and meeting seating will allow physical distancing.

Meeting Agenda:

  1. Introduction, review of norms, and meeting agenda

  2. Negotiating in Minneapolis and St. Paul - Recent Experiences
    Jim Vollmer, Director of Labor Relations at St. Paul Public Schools, and Margaret Skelton,

    Shareholder, Ratwik, Roszak, & Maloney, P.A., and external counsel to Minneapolis Public Schools will engage in an interactive panel discussion. Attendees will be invited to share their questions and hear perspectives regarding complex negotiations. Challenging political environments, strike votes, internal dissent, public/media involvement, and many other factors influence labor relations. This session will be an opportunity to hear candid viewpoints based on experience.


  3. Reports and Updates on Settlements
    Moderated group discussion: members share a brief update as to where they are in the process of negotiating teachers’ and other contracts. Includes please share the main issues they have brought to the table as well as any other issues or proposals you feel would be of interest to the group.
